Tips for Researcher to include variable as Moderator

Stage 1:

Get literature connecting direct relationship of Independent Variable to Dependent Variable Note: Direct relationship is when the moderating variable acts as Independent Variable.

Stage 2:

Get Theory to support the direct relationship. It is important for researcher to establish direct relationship between IV and DV before proceed for moderation because the theory provide justification for that choices of the variable

Stage 3:

Get literature connecting indirect relationship: Explaining Moderating Variable moderates the relationship of Independent Variable and Dependent Variable

Note 1:

Indirect relationship is when the moderating variable plays role as Moderating variable to IV & DV. To Include the following table in the Literature Review:

Note 2:
Researcher can obtain the findings of strong or moderates or weak relationship through the result section in the thesis / journal. Researcher need to write it in his or her own sentences of the results but credit goes to the author.
Stage 4:
Get Theory to support the indirect relationship.
Stage 5:  (After collecting and Analysing results)
Explain how moderating effect changes the mechanism by strengthening or weakening the direct relationship. researcher can fix whether it is partial mediator and whether it sound very good for full mediation or it is weak relations.
Stage 6:
Return to theory when interpreting the result and explain them from theoretical point of view, how the theory can be altered with the support of new intervention. E.g. There is strong relationship between these two variables so the theory is supported or the relationship of these variables can be better explained in a better way with the support of 2 or 3 theories. The role of theory is important to explain the following:
·         Conceptualisation of hypothesize of moderating relationship
·         Inclusion of moderating effect
